National Foster Youth and Alumni Policy Council Member, Justin Abbasi, met with Dr. Ben Carson, Secretary of U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), to discuss how housing stability can contribute to improved outcomes for young people who've experienced foster care. Justin joined several other advocates from the National Center for Housing & Child Welfare, Foster Care Alumni of America, Overcoming Hurdles in Ohio Youth Advisory Board, iFoster and Action Ohio. They discussed "Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities" which could connect young people to already-existing HUD resources. Justin shared how the proposal aligned with the previously released Council priority "Preventing Homelessness Among Young Adults from Foster Care.

We look forward to continuing to share Council recommendations and connect with other advocates working for housing stability and preventing homelessness for young people who experience foster care!
