Years in care: 15

Montoya entered foster care at age 5 due to a history of abuse. Montoya lived in 12 foster homes and 2 residential treatment centers. Montoya participated and advocated with P.E.A.K.S camp, Teen Conference, Youth Leadership Council, Lone Star Conference, and Youth in Action at the State Capital. She also participated in the Houston Alumni Youth Center Fundraiser with Guest Speaker Simone Biles. Montoya completed the Cosmetology Program at Huntsville High School. She also studied Abroad in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai China during the summer of 2016. Montoya has successfully moved into her own place working and is attending Lone Star college where she is working on her Masters in Physical Therapy. The Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, is supporting Montoya's efforts to work in the local hospital.

Montoya is currently an All-Star with FosterClub where she plans on continuing to advocate as a voice for youth. Montoya enjoys cooking, traveling, has a very bubbly personality, is open-minded and loves trying new things. She enjoys outdoor activities and is invested in anything that promotes health and wellness. Montoya love waterfalls and the color turquoise.
