A graduate of Delaware State University, she holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work. Formerly the President of the Delaware Youth Advisory Board, Mayda actively engages in training new leaders within this capacity.

Her extensive knowledge of child welfare systems is shared not only in youth and school groups but also in events tailored for adults. As she continues her journey with "In Her Shoes LLC." Beyond her professional commitments. Mayda is actively involved in various extracurricular pursuits and organizations. She served as the President of Companion Champions from 2019-2022, dedicating herself to giving back to the foster care community. As the founder of Hornets in Motion at Delaware State University, her community service organization strives to make a positive impact on both individuals and communities. Mayda, a dedicated volunteer, participates in events such as the Down Syndrome Rock Your Socks campaign and Adopt a Highway Clean-Up. Her instrumental role in passing House Bill 123, providing a college tuition waiver for foster youth in Delaware, underscores her commitment to advocacy.
