Dashun has been involved with the child welfare system for most of his life, living in several foster and group homes. He has several siblings, but has spent most of his life separated from them. Dashun cares deeply for his siblings and wants to work to make foster care better for them. He is currently living in a group home and involved in their Independent Living Program. Dashun has been an active member of FAAYT for the last 2 years and vice-president for the last 9 months. He has publicly spoken on behalf of the organization and receives many requests to speak to current and former foster youth about advocacy. Dashun has been selected to participate in several youth leadership trainings and workshops. He was a representative of FAAYT at the last Nevada State legislation session and spent a day shadowing Barbara Buckley, Speaker of the Nevada State Assembly. Dashun is involved in many leadership activities in school and the community. He is the leader of his high school Army-ROTC and involved in his church, where he is the youngest member of their board of education. For the past 2 years he has been the president of the Kids in Need Club. Dashun is passionate about improving services for foster youth and continues to inspire.
