The National Youth in Transition Database was created in order to track the independent living services provided to transitioning youth. States must develop a strategy to engage youth even after they are out of the system. We believe effective engagement will only happen when young people understand what NYTD is, how and why they are going to be asked for information, and more importantly how their input will be used to make a change. By becoming educated and excited about participating youth will learn the importance of getting U-NYTD.
Learning Objectives — participants will:
- Define NYTD
- Understand their role and the role of foster youth in NYTD
- Understand the larger purpose of NYTD
- Know how to use the FosterClub website (or other state vehicle) to take the survey
- GREAT PIP/YOUTH ENGAGEMENT VEHICLE! Contribute ideas about how the state can effectively engage youth in NYTD
