Michelle is an emancipated foster youth who became a ward of the State of California when she was 12. Before she aged out of the system upon graduating high school, Michelle had over 10 foster care placements. The most devastating blow came when three of her 7 siblings - with whom she had spent her life - were adopted and she, being a teenager, was not. It wasn’t until 7 years later that they reunited by email.
Michelle is currently a junior at California State University, Monterey Bay, where she is majoring in Collaborate Health and Human Services with a dual concentration in Social Work and Public Health. Her minor will be in Spanish Language and Hispanic Culture.
