Hey Guys,
I am a supportive adult that just wanted to introduce myself. I am 27, married and a mother. I joined this site because eventually my husband and I are wanting to do either foster care, or what we call a transition house (basically a place for "aging out" young adults to go, get on their feet, and a place to return to whenever they want, a forever home) I am always here if anyone wants advice, to talk, or whatever. Thanks for your time. :)

I think this is a great idea. If only I had that type of place when I aged out a year ago it would have helped me greatly. When many of us age out its soooo stressful & overwhelming. Luckily I have family support or I dont know how I would have made it. The system just gives you a few dollars & send you on your merry way. Im happy to know that there are some people out there that are willing to help & understand what we go through. :)

I'm trying. It's going to be tough to get going on it, just because of being active duty military family right now. We move every 3 years. Having to take all the classes over and re-certify every time we move. But foster youth are worth it. I don't want to be another person that makes them wait. For those of you that are aged out already and need a friend to talk to I am here for ya.

Thats a neat idea. I'm glad there are some good people out there. :) I'm also new to the site. Not so new to foster care though. Anyway, I think your ideas really great. I hope you follow thru. You could help alot of people that way.

That's what we are hoping for. My sister-in-law was in the foster care system, and so we know how hard it is for our youth. My husband and my idea is to give our kids a place to stay while they get on their feet, whether that be waiting on the college process, jobs, whatever. And then just helping them throughout their lives. If they want us to. I am excited about it. I would love to start now, but being Navy we are only in a place for a few years. So I wouldn't want "our kids" to feel abandoned when we get sent to our next base, even though that isn't how it would be. I really want to help now though, so I have joined this site, and I have been thinking about maybe helping out one young adult at a time. We have one extra room in our house and so it's a thought that I have been throwing back and forth in my head. Sorry about blabbing, I am just really excited about this. :)
