Hey CWattley =)

Just an update for you, I've been looking for scholarships for Indianapolis specifically, but I haven't come up with anything promising yet. But something you should research is the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative website, I'm pretty sure they have some form of a national scholarship you could apply for. =)

Hi cwattley,
Everyone has pretty much covered them. But another one you could try that worked for me was the Horatio Alger Scholarship (https://www.horatioalger.org//scholarships/index.cfm). This scholarship offers $20,000 for any school dependent on the adversity that you have overcome and if you give back to your community in some way. You become a member for the rest of your life and they are a great resource. Hope this helps and good luck! :)

That's a problem that a lot of young people (not just foster youth) have. For us it can be harder becuase we usually don't have the wise parent looking over our shoulder to help. But we do have other resources. I recommend you speak to your caseworker or socialworker about scholarships available through your agency. I also recommend that you fill out FAFSA, they have special grants and monies available for foster youth and former foster youth. Also ETV is a great resource. According to your state you may be able to get a scholarship through them. Visit statevoucher.org for more information about your state. Fastweb is also another great resource. Fastweb.com is a website were you can look at scholarships catered to your particular situation. Amplify You Voice!!!

My best advice for scholarships would be this. I attend Western Michigan University, (Yes that is in Michigan) They started up a new Full Ride scholarship available to foster youth. There are some requirements, the name of the scholarship is called the John Seita Scholarship. The scholarship is made up of different grants and funding, some you do have to be eligible for.

I, am one of the scholars myself. I believe that there is still time to apply. But I could be wrong. Also don't forget you do have to be accepted into the University. But it never hurts to try! Good Luck!

Well fosterclub doesnt offer any scholarships at this point of time probably in the future but not this point of time because we are an organization that has only been alive for about 5-6 years

Hello there, well there are tons of different scholarships out there I know alot about the ones in oregon. There is the Oregon oportunity grant, there is osac were it has a hole bunch of different scholerships that you could apply for. I think that the true Initiative of wanting to finding out what scholerships are out there is the key to succeding in finding the money to go to school. If you have an Independent Living Provider or something like it were they help you with basic needs they would be the people to ask. I got what was not paid for by scholerships and grants paid for by my grandmother and for that I am greatfull. Good luck in finding scholerships I know its hard just keep you head up. Also if you look into lones I would say get the one that you dont have to pay intell you are done with school. What you will make after you graduate will make up for it.
