New research shows that less that half of former foster youth are employed at 23, and only six percent have finished college.

This upcoming summer

Hey everyone. So this upcoming summer is going to be filled with great things. First off I am graduating college on May 8th which a lot of former foster youth can't say they have accomplished. And i am doing it in four years which a lot of people can't say. I am so excited for it, I currently have 96 days till I walk across the stage finalizing my 16 years of schooling.

Wow its been a while

Hey everyone. Its been forever since I posted a blog. Just an update on how life is going. I just started my first week of my final semster here at UNC. I am so excited to graduate but also very nervous just for the simple fac that I have nothing finalized on what is happening after graduation. I have a couple in the air possibilities but nothing finalized which is why its a little scare.

Checking in

Hey FosterClub friends and family. It’s been quite some time since I last blogged. Its about 3 am here in Colorado and having three cups of coffee and 9pm doesn’t help your sleep, let me tell you. Anyways, I found it to be the perfect time to blog and give everyone an update since my last entry. Lets see what has happened. I can tell you right now that school is whopping my butt.

Reality

I am finally coming to the realization that a major chapter of my life is coming to an end. The thought of my graduation from college consumes my thoughts on a daily basis. Most of you reading this know my story about how as a child the idea of even going to college was rare. Now I am a semester and a half away from completing a task that seven years ago didn't exist.

To connect

Here is my college essay that I wrote when I was like 16 or 17. Just wanted to share with you.

Wow, how time flies!

So I cannot believe its the fifth of July already. It is our one month anniversary for us all-stars here in Oregon. It seriously feels like we moved into the house about a day ago. We have been through so much already and its only the beginning. Just wanted to give you all an updated on whats been going on since my last blog.

Keep Yo Head Up!

Hey fellow youth. I just wanted to share with you all my positive story. I was in the Colorado foster care system for five years and aged out of the system two months after my 18th birthday. I would have to say that without foster care I wouldn't be where I am today. I entered a home with a woman who was new to the foster care system and was new to youth.
