How are people nominated?
One of two ways:
1. Young people may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone they know (a nominator). Nominators may be a friend, co-worker, child welfare professional, or anyone else who believes that the young person deserves consideration because of their outstanding commitment to help improve the foster care system or their community.

2. If a young person applied to be a FosterClub All-Star and checked yes to the following question: 'Please consider this application for the OUTSTANDING YOUNG LEADER award', they will automatically be considered for the award and do not to be nominated.
How are they selected?
FosterClub staff, interns, and past Outstanding Young Leaders will select the recipient based on leadership and service, goals, and accomplishments.
What do Outstanding Young Leaders receive?
- Certificate of achievement
- Recognition on FosterClub.com
- Possible leadership opportunities
- Possible media and press coverage
- A great addition to their resume!
What is the time commitment?
Minimal. Outstanding Young Leaders may be contacted about attending other events throughout the country, or the possibility to meet their Congressmen or other legislative officials. While these opportunities are potentially very rewarding and may include a monetary stipend or reward, they are all optional.
What will FosterClub ask of you if you're selected?
If you are selected, FosterClub will need the following 2 things from you at your soonest convenience:
1. Mini Biography:
You will be required to provide a short biography with your nomination. download examples.
2. Head Shot:
You will be required to send a photo of yourself to oyl@fosterclub.com to complete the nomination. A headshot (shoulders and up) is preferred, but it does not need to be a professional photo. If the nominee is under the age of 18, permission from their legal guardian and/or case worker will be required to use a picture. Photos may be used on our website for publicity and media efforts, and all award winners will be required to sign a photo release form. If it is not possible to use a photo, you may log in and create a signature FosterClub avatar (which can be created for free through FosterClub.com).
These two items will be used to create a Outstanding Young Leader page for each winner. This page can also contain any other awards or publicity about the award winner. For more examples of what this page might look like, refer to the 2009 Outstanding Young Leader page, and select on a specific outstanding young leader from last year.
