Young people who have been in foster care are the REAL experts… they know the foster care system from the inside.
If you have experience in the foster care system and want to use your expertise to help improve things for the younger kids coming up through the system behind you, then you are in a position to help lead the Band Together effort.
Your voice can provoke real change in the system. Lawmakers want to hear what you have to say. Other young people in foster care will look to you as a role model. Foster parents and caseworkers want your advice about how to provide better care for their foster children. Researchers want your opinions about improving foster care.
Feeling inspired? Put your insider knowledge to work. Become a member of the Advocacy Club. Join a local Youth Advisory Board or gather a group of youth to get one started. Volunteer with an Independent Living Program and help inspire your younger peers to build a better future for themselves.
Visit the All-Star Club and read about other young people with foster care experience who are making a real difference.
If you are currently involved with public speaking or are thinking about sharing your story, If you are an experienced speaker and have the support of an
