The Campaign calls for youth leaders, teachers, child welfare workers and other concerned adults to Band Together with teenagers and young adults to improve life for children and youth in foster care. Here’s how you can get involved:
> Introduce youth you know to the Band Together campaign
> Integrate a Foster Care Lesson Plan in the classroom or group meeting
> Lead a discussion at a library or for a Book Club about a book that has a foster care theme. Download a book list and discussion guide from bandtogether.org
> Show a movie to a group of youth and lead a discussion of foster care issues
> Offer to play a supportive role for a school group that is planning a Community Service Project, or encourage your Scout Troup or Church Youth Group to launch a project.
> Support foster youth and young alumni by arranging speaking
engagements and participation in meetings where they can share their experiences and provide their expertise of the foster care system. Consider a presentation by young people at a Rotary, Kiwanis or other civic organization meeting, at a Chamber of Commerce meeting, at Church or any other organization in your community. Use Band Together Powerpoint templates and speaker’s guides.
