FosterClub's 2008 All-Star Program

Details About the Summer Internship Opportunity

Introduction Overview Details How to apply

FosterClub, the national network for youth in foster care, launched the All-Star program in 2004 and successfully incorporated current and former foster youth as facilitators and leaders of teen conference activities. The All-Stars were highly successful, proving wildly popular among teen conference attendees and providing a “real-life, been there-done that” perspective to FosterClub’s event programming. For the young people who served as  All-Stars, the opportunity proved to be transforming and life-changing.

How FosterClub All-Stars will be selected:

FosterClub is seeking a diverse group of young people to participate in the FosterClub All-Star program. We will make selections to help us achieve diversity in culture, race, educational background, foster care experience, etc. We will seek young people who have demonstrated leadership skills at school, church, work, and volunteer service or in other areas.

Young people who apply but are not selected should in no way view the fact that they weren’t selected as an indication of their abilities or personality. It simply means that other youth were selected to help us build a diverse team for the All-Star Program.

An online clubhouse at www.fosterclub.com provides a safe place for kids to get facts about foster care, read inspirational stories, and find support from their peers. FosterClub also produces a website designed specifically for older youth, www.fyi3.com, which inspires young people to become involved in their case plan, informed about their rights in foster care, and to prepare for independence after they age out of the system. In addition to providing online communities, FosterClub produces conferences for teens in care, develops publications and injects youth voice into the child welfare system.
